Dalyan

Dalyan
Dalyan has splendid beauty where history and nature embrace each other. it is 12 km from the sea and situated near a stream with the same name. Dalyan is an ideal resort for Blue Voyagers to relax, with its intact nature, turtles and the ancient city of Kaunos.
in Dalyan, there is a natural water conduit connecting Köyceğiz Gölü with the Mediterranean. Dalyan stream, formerly known as Calbis, is about 5 miles long, and the average depth is 2,5-3 m. The vvater conduit connects the sea and the lake. Dalyan is near the stream, and Kaunos ancient city is on the opposite bank of the water conduit. The sides of the stream are covered with reeds, about 1-2 m high. This makes the canal excursions mystical and exciting. Speed boats
and boats longer than 12 m, are not allowed to enter the canal. Opposite the end of the canal, where the stream meets the sea, is Delik Ada. This island is quite important not only because it controls the entrances into the canal but also because it blocks the wind. Kaunos ruins are about 1 km from Dalyan .
It is possible to reach Kaunos either from the water conduit or by land. Hovvever, as the ruins are about 1 km inside the stream bank, visitors are required to walk for about 10 minutes.
King tombs in different sizes, which were carved into rocks, have become the landmark
of Dalyan and Kaunos.
Acropolis, city walls, theatre, church, temples, bath, stoa, agora, harbour and the necropolis are the majör ruins to be seen in Kaunos.
