Oren

Oren
Camalti- Keramos
37'01'9N , 27°58'5E
It is in the East of Oren Burnu. The thermal plant and its tall chimney can be seen from a long distance. While approaching, the lighthouse in the West (Fl3s8M) can be .seen very easily. It is not a good shelter as it is exposed to Westerlies and South westerlies. Besides, the bay is too deep to anchor. The remains of Keramo.s ancient city are 1 nautical mile away. Keramos is just 48 km from Milas and can also be reached from the land.
This modern settlement, named Oren today, is located on and around the ancient city of Keramos. This was a Carian city, and its name comes from the word "ceramic" in Greek which is also said to be the origin of the name 'Kerme' Korfezi. The ruins start from the sea and continue up the hills.Camalti Koyu, where the quay is situated, was the harbour of Keramos. Walls, gates, temples, rock tombs, necropolis and churches are some of the remains lo be seen there
