This bay lies about 2,5 nautical miles to the East-Northeast of Gökkaya Limanı and is exposed to Southvvesterlies. it is not a safe anchorage. Hovvever, from this point, you can visit the ancient cities of Demre and Myra, 5 km away. Myra was a Lycian harbour city, but due to alluvium deposited by the Demre' river, it is now a bit away from the sea. Demre is famous for its greenhouses and agricultural products. The church dedicated to St. Nicholas (Noel Baba) is also in this village.
Myra
Myra is situated at the top of a hill and on the slope below. it is acknowledged that its foundation dates back to the years before the 6th century BC, and that the first settlement was in the acropolis.


Among the places to be visited, the acropolis with its tower, gate and walls can be seen on the hill. On the slope, there is a Roman theatre which was built during the Ilellenistic period and which took its present shape in Roman period. The slope next to the theatre is honeycombed with Lycian period rock tombs, which are the most attractive ruins of Myra. The front parts of these rock tombs are like houses, and they have a few rooms. Some of the tombs are decorated with reliefs.
Demre
Demre (Kale), 1 km away from Myra ancient city, is famous for St. Nicholas Church. The church, in the village center, has been determined as a place of pilgrimage for the Christian world. As a result of recent excavations, it is understood that some buildings were added to the church and it was turned into a monastery. This church is the place where St. Nicholas, known as "Noel Baba" worked and was buried. inside the church, there is a sarcophagus which is thought to belong to the saint. Besides its architecture, the church also attracts attention with its fresco and ground mosaics belonging to the Byzantine Period. The building is used as a museum today and in its garden there is a huge statue of the saint. From time to time, religious ceremonies and symposiums are held here.
