Tekirova

Tekirova
Phaselis
36'31'N, 30°34'E
This anchorage, being
spectacularly beautiful and suitable for overnight stays, lies under İnceburun and is 5 nautical miles South of Kemer, it is full of the remains of the ancient city of Phaselis is just 35 km far from Antalya.
\Vhen approaching from theSouth, çare is needed of the rocks, vvhich extend 200 m into the sea. There are two inlets in Tekirova, one in the North and the other in the South. There are several above and undervvater rocks in both of these inlets. The refore, great çare is needed when entering.
For instance, as there are sıınken breakwater remains at both ends of the Southern inlet, you can anchor only in the middle part, in 5-6 m. The breakvvater remains in the Northern inlet are almost above vvater. Since there are too many rocks in this part, it is not very suitable for anchoring.
The foundation of the ancient city of Phaselis dates back to the period before Christ. it was first founded as a colony of Rhodes, and then it was dominated by the Persians, the Kingdom of Rhodes, Romans and the Byzantines respectively. it has three important ports.
Today, Phaselis is covered with plants, and the structures are in harmony with the beauty of nature. From the remaining buildings, we can understand that the Roman period was the most dominant in the city. Through
history, the settlement earned its living from the sea. Especially, before the foundation of Antalya (Attalia), it vvas the most important commercial city in the West of Antalya Körfezi.
The most attractive ruins to be seen in Phaselis are the three harbours, acropolis, main street linking the harbours, theatre situated on both sides of the street, agora and baths, gate, aqueducts and the necropolis.
