Marmaris Limani
36°51'N, 28°16'4'E

Marmaris Limani is a large bay in the Northeast of Bozburun Yanmadasi. Ke^i Adasi and Nimara Adasi in its South provide a natural protection for the bay. Nimara Adasi is connected to the mainland through a narrow isthmus. Both islands are covered with trees.
Marmaris Marina, in the North of the bay, is an important and popular harbour for yacht tourism.
It is possible to enter the harbour cither by §ark Bogazi between Nimara Adasi and Keci Adasi or by Grup Bogazi between Keci Adasi
and the mainland. However, §ark Bogazi is preferred when entering and leaving the harbour because there is an above water reef in the middle of Grup Bogazi. Once you enter the bay, Marmaris lies to the North. During
night approaches, you can use Nimara Adas! lighthouse (Fl.3s5M), Keci Adasi lighthouse (Fl.R.2s5M), and the lights of Marmaris Marina (F.G.4m2M and F.R.4m2M).
It is possible to approach the place .shown in the marina. Besides, you can anchor in the quay at the entrance of the marina or outside the marina breakwater. The marina provides all-round shelter, so it is also possible to winter here. Moreover, there are also suitable
anchorages on the Northern part of Nimara Adasi. Marmaris is one of the most important tourist resorts of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast. Therefore, it is rich in touri.st facilities. Marmaris is an ancient Carian city, and its
name in old writings is thought to be Phyckus/Fyskus. The remains of the ancient city can be seen on Asartepe. However, there are no important remains except for some castle walls. The most crucial building in the city center is the Medieval Fortress. Kanuni Sultan Stileyman had this fortress built in 1521. In the fortress, there is a museum where archaeological and ethnographic works of art are exhibited. Its vicinity is called 'Kaleici". There are narrow roads and white-painted houses in KaleicJ, known as the oldest settlement of the city during the Ottoman period.
Kanuni Sultan Suleyman changed the name of this city from Phyckus into Mimaris, and il became Marmaris in time.
Marmaris is surrounded by high mountains and pine trees and is famous for its pine honey.
