MANASTIR KOYU

MANASTIR KOYU

just because of its name, it should not be thought that the ruins here belong to the period of Cleopatra.
This bay is a suitable place for anchoring. Smaller yachts can moor either to the wooden quay or to the trees ashore. The Southern part of the bay, where there are the remains of a bath, is perfect anchorage as it is sheltered from ali winds. it is possible to anchor here in 12-15 m.
You can also anchor in the Westem part, but it is exposed to Northerlies and Southwesterlies. it is possible to anchor in 8-12 m here. Though it is exposed to winds, it is comfortable anchorage.
On this part of the bay, there are remains of an ancient wall extending from the top into the sea. The mainland and the peninsula are separated from each other by this wall. it is believed that this wall was built to protect the ancient city of Lydae situated on the peninsula and Arymaxa, a town of this ancient city. If you go up to the top of this wall, you can see the beautiful sight of Gökgemile Koyu.

Kleopatra Koyu gets quite crovvded during noon hours as daily yacht tours come here. There are restaurants ashore to have delicious meals. When the yachts leave, the bay returns to its quietness again.
